Maps & Networks - Starting The Animation
I started by creating my icons so I could just put them in and animate them where and when needed. I used photoshop and my graphics tablet to draw them out and then touch them up so they looked how I wanted. I saved them as a PNG without backgrounds so I wouldn't have to spend time taking the background off of them in after effects.
I started creating the outline for my buildings which too FOREVER, creating individual lines was very time consuming however I really think the overall look of them is exactly what I wanted to achieve. I started thinking about colour and experimenting with different versions of my buildings aesthetic. I initially liked the deep purple with the yellow however I didn't think it had enough of the cyberpunk look.

Just to see if I could possibly pull of the spot light revealing the blue print so I did a quick experiment in photoshop. I am pretty happy with the effect. I should be able to put this into after effects to animate the movement myself.

I decided on a much darker and bluer greyish colour. I balanced it out with some yellows to replicate the lights from the street and on the buildings themselves which added some more layers giving it more dimension.
For my solo light I added a very cyan blue light which I think works well with the colours. I think it needs some more elements so I will play around with adding some more lights I think.

Continuing My Animation Process
I started adding some more details to give it a little bit more character, I think I will have some of the lights turn on and off throughout the animation sequence.
I started on a different layer on photoshop with adding in a lot more lights for the beginning of my animation, which is more authentic projection mapping style. The lights will move and turn on and off in different places.
The Blue Print
I started to create a blue print of my buildings using the polylasso tool in photoshop for the straight edged lines. I took inspiration from some blue prints for the buildings themselves or just looked as images of the buildings and tried to replicate this as best I could.
The finished skeleton buildings
Just to see if I could possibly pull of the spot light revealing the blue print so I did a quick experiment in photoshop. I am pretty happy with the effect. I should be able to put this into after effects to animate the movement myself.
