How do companies use new technologies to influence our buying?

With the advances of technologies changing the world everyday, of-course companies are going to utilise these technologies. The speed at which these companies need to be able to implement a new technology into there media is going to affect their sales so the faster they can produce the quicker they will make money, but at what cost. These new technologies are not always checked enough which can cause problems like a new phone over heating and bursting into flames or causing mental health problems due to dependance and isolation.

The invention of the smart phone has allowed for instant research of any product online, estimating that 93% of products researched using a smart phone ends with a sale. Meaning that companies are focusing their new technologies towards the advances of the smart phone and app technologies. There are hundreds and thousands of apps available at the touch of the screen and creating apps that allow for easy use and quick information means a quicker sale. The McDonald's store locator app is a prime example of how GPS technologies are used to examine how far away you (your smart phone) is away from your nearest store. Knowing this type of information promotes spending and enforces the idea that these technologies are for our benefit, when really, are these technologies promoting an unhealthy lifestyle.
