Editing 2 - Portrait Series
I started editing this image by adding a high pass layer to bring out as much detail as I could as the image is slightly blurry probably because of the guy moving and my shutter speed not being quick enough.
I then added a black and white adjustment layer in and changed the blend mode to multiply which made the image darker than I would have liked.
I used a brightness layer to bring back the brightness of the image which was lost by the black and white layer. I used the dodge and burn tool which Lee Jeffries uses to bring out the depth of his subjects facial features with my own.
I wanted to bring the focus more on the subjects face as the background was too much in focus. I duplicated my layer and used Gaussian blur filter to gradually blur the background. I made the blur radius tight to the subjects face as this is what I want the main focus to be. By bluring the background this makes the foreground look sharper to the eye.
