Scouting Location - Portrait Series

Tents - My images of location 

I went out to scout the area which I knew there would be tents and to possibly have a chat with the people that occupy them. I found one person who showed me the tent they were staying in and asked to photograph them with their tent which they declined as they didn't like the idea of themselves being associated with this new tent city, but allowed me to take images of him in his "spot" which luckily for me was well lit in comparison. 

I went out to shoot these images a couple of times as the cold and weather made it incredibly uncomfortable to be in the cold for such a long time whilst being unwell. I spaced out my shoots over a couple of days at different times so I could get the right kind of lighting for the tents as they needed to be light enough to be able to see but still have that dingeyness to them. I would have liked to have shot at night time as the underpass are lit by led lights which would have made interesting images of but the safety of the situation would have been too much of a risk.  I decided to go out and take multiple shots as I want to create a street of tents in a long panoramic style image.
