VFX - Evaluation
3AM - FLTCHR
I decided from the start to create a title sequence for my doc but I didn't have much interest in the idea as I didn't have a strong enough concept and found that it would be too much work for the amount of time available. I chose to work from FLTCHR bands song 3am and create a teaser video for a music video. A teaser video essentially shares the same principles and reasoning as a title sequence as it builds tension for something more... The idea developed from creating a never ending room such as the Scott Pilgrim title sequence but found that my laptop itself was not enjoying the process and neither was I as it was too much designing not enough editing for my liking. I then started to make a never ending sequence using a repeater and icon but the file was so huge and this was proving difficult to navigate through the 3D space I created. Phillip showed me Max Hattler - 1923 aka heaven which inspired me to create a 3D effect myself. Using inspiration from neon signs I started to create my elements for the video such as my instruments and pictures/videos. Applying adjustment layers allowed me to un-destructively manipulate these compositions with effects without damaging or doing anything wrong. As this was meant as a teaser video I knew the pace had to be quick and snappy and show only glimpses of lots of things which I believe I have done, I think that it makes the audience want more and want to see a music video for this. Overall I am somewhat happy with my outcome, I would have liked to have spent more time learning the software a little more intimately to fully understand why certain things only work in specific ways and to be able to have more intricacies within the work itself otherwise okay.
