Pro Tools - Class Sound Experiments

Cowboy Bebop

To enable shortcuts make sure this symbol is yellow

CowBoy Bebop

So to get started you need to import your media like so
same goes for video, you might need to enable the video installer

your audio will come in a clip list at the side under CLIPS

This is a smart tool thingy which means you can do multiple things like grab, cut and select a clip.
If you want to merge two clips over lap them.
At the sides of the clips you can fade.
If you have two clips next to each other you can cross fade them by moving your cursor over the bottom corner.
When az is yellow to cut a clip use B key

If your video window goes and you can't find it a short cut is CMD + 9

To edit your audio you need to select the clip you wish to edit. Then go to AudioSuite.

Using the EQ3 7-Band is better as it has more options.
 This is the EQ3 1-Band.

You can change pitch and add reverb and other things with the AudioSuite too.

Fade

My audio.

Final Outcome.

Overall for my first experiments with ProTools, I'm pretty happy with my Cowboy Bebop. The software itself is a little dated and fiddly with certain things but I'm sure with more time and knowledge I will understand it better.

Butterfly Project

I decided to go a weird route with this project, I decided to use a lot of the AudioSuite to mess with the sounds we recorded. I used a TimeShift on each three of the Voice Overs at 55% each and worked with the pitch of them each by making one really low and one really high and one gittery by changing the delay.

I played with the Pitch a lot with the higher pitched sounds.

The thundery clips I played with the reverb.

Overall, this was interesting experiment to understand how to use some of the audio suite effects and first thoughts on how to link sounds and speech.

Amen Brothers

We were given the task to isolate the drum break and then create something new with it.

To keep the beat going you need to select the clips, group them and loop them.

I managed to lose my final piece for this class experiment so if I have time I will recreate.
